“A lagoon of twinkling emeralds” musings of mine on a waterside amble. #WritingCommunity

A lagoon of twinkling emeralds
Lay in a deep cleft
On the red earthed floor of the earth
Surrounded by a crown
Of craggy pewter outcrops
With rough crested escarpments
Like lofty castles in the clouds
That scraped against the topaz ceiling
Covering the lush verdant world
The placid idyll
Circled by a turquoise forest of mighty conifers
Drew an endless procession
Of gazelles and goats
Squirrels and bees
To sip from its shores
Replete from feasting on the leaves
Of the loquat trees
That grew in the embrace
Of the cool climes of this earthly paradise
