“The very firmament itself” a poem on the wonders of creation #poem #poetry #verse

The very firmament itself
Tells of the glory of the almighty
Whose craftsmanship sublime
Is seen in the endless array it displays
In varieties infinite
Day after day after blessed day
Great swathes of lilacs and crimsons and golds
Emeralds and turquoises and blues
As the great gold disc
That mighty daystar renowned
Slides down the wall of the taut canvas
And into the sea
At the point where sky meets water
The ethereal encounters the oceans
Upon yonder horizon
That line semicircular
That describes the frontiers
At the gates to the bejeweled bay at dusk
And covers the earth
From east to west and north to south
With bounty abundant
