“Beyond the brick red jagged mountains” #poem #poetry #verse

Beyond the brick red jagged mountain tops
The sky bathed in the light of the titian sun
As it sank towards the horizon
The tranquil waters lay still
Beneath a sky of fading light
As it awaited the hour of slumber
The sky grew dark
And it pulsed claret red
At the very horizon
Where the setting daystar
Took its rest
At yonder most westerly part
Of the mighty firmament
And on the opposite side
This same sky
Now began as a pale wash
In a delicate yellow
Imperceptibly merging to a cornflower blue
As ever higher it rose
Toward the ceiling
Of the vast dome
That covered the earth
Darkening by degrees
As it ascended the wall
Until it merged with the crepuscular
An eventide canopy resplendent
With myriad hues riotous of nightfall adorned
