‘Light from the dawning of day’

Light from the dawning of day
cast a wash of pale gold
Across the scene

Its rays of whitest hue
filtered through the mists
a’float in the early morn
Where shadows of night
lingered low over the realm awhile

Reluctant their leave for to bid
of this serene idyll

As they wafted ethereal
over the placid waters
pervading the lake a’shimmer in palest blue

Like spectres unearthly
from another dominion entire
Drinking from the cup of plenty
gracing this silent hour
