‘A golden sun’

A golden sun
melted in the firmament
As it dipped the hem of its raging fires
into the waters that lapped at the horizon
For to cool awhile its blazing chambers

And the skies turned to molten copper
as the empyrean expanse
coruscated in the lofty heavens
While the vast open skies
became an unquenchable ocean
of seething infinity
Aflow with shimmering lights
that evoked but dimly
The very glory unsearchable
of that great light eternal
That ever shines undimmed
in an unfathomable world
Beyond mortal ken

  1. Water above, and water below
Stuck in between, in the gold array
But, when the sun rises enough
    From earthly brown hues low
Or falls from its hanging place
    The cobalt blue expanse high
    We will there find ourselves
    Positioned so precisely
    Exactly where God intended
