The early morning mist

The early morning mist 
cast a pale wash 
over the scene entire 
As the nascent dawn 
stained the realm 
in a lilac haze 

It wafted over the waters
at play upon the tranquil lake
Which donned a raiment
of diaphanous lavender 
That gleamed in the lambency 
of a silent daybreak 
While patchwork fields 
sparkled with dew
Studding the land 
with myriad diamond lights
Which caught the sublime glory
bestowed by the rising orb of day
